Why Le Lac Parents Choose Martial Arts

Courage looks small at first. It is a five year old bowing onto a mat full of strangers, or a ten year old retrying the technique they missed yesterday, in front of everyone. In the quiet of Le Lac's private lakefront estates, kids grow up comfortable, and comfortable kids need a safe place to practice being brave. That is exactly what Xcel Martial Arts offers, about 12 minutes from home.

Off Clint Moore Road, Le Lac evenings are calm, water, space, and privacy. Class time is the counterweight. For one focused stretch of the afternoon, your child is challenged on purpose, by name, at their level, in a group small enough that no one can coast. Head instructor Maria Bacchetta builds bravery in steps, first a louder answer, then demonstrating in front of the class, then, much later, controlled sparring for advanced Warriors.

Twelve minutes, roughly 6 miles, that is the whole commitment on your end. Ours is bigger. We promise a room where effort is the currency, where a child from Le Lac learns that fear is information, not instruction, and where every week ends with them a little braver than they started. The free trial class costs nothing and asks nothing, except that they step on the mat.

Courage

We treat courage like a muscle, trained with reps. Kids answer up loud, demonstrate in front of peers, and test for belts while parents watch. Each rep is slightly bigger than the last, never overwhelming, always coached. For Le Lac kids who have plenty of comfort at home, this is the missing ingredient, a place where being nervous and doing it anyway is the whole assignment.

Respect

Martial arts has a built-in language of respect, bowing in, addressing instructors properly, thanking partners. Kids absorb it fast because it is lived, not lectured. A Le Lac child who greets adults with eye contact and a handshake did not learn that from a screen. In our small classes, courtesy is not a rule posted on the wall. It is how every single class begins and ends.

Resilience

The belt system is honest. Some techniques take weeks, and promotions in Warriors Basic are earned, never handed out to keep everyone smiling. Kids learn to sit with not yet and keep working. That resilience travels home to Le Lac, into homework battles and lost games and hard days at school. A child who has earned something slowly values it, and values themselves for having stuck it out.

Less Screen Time

Private estates mean space, and sometimes space means kids drifting toward devices because the street outside is quiet. A standing class solves that. Monday through Thursday afternoons, plus Friday, there is always a session your child can attend, live, sweaty, and face to face with real friends. Trade the after-school scroll for skill work on the mat, and you will feel the difference at home within weeks.

Programs for Le Lac Kids

Le Lac families usually start where their kids are. Ninjas welcomes 3 and 4 year olds with movement and coordination games. Eagles, for ages 5 and 6, adds foundational strikes, blocks, stances, and teamwork. Warriors Basic gives 7 to 12 year olds kickboxing and martial arts fundamentals and their first belt promotions, while Warriors Advanced, purple belt and up, brings sparring and competition prep. Teens 13 and older, and plenty of parents, train Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA in the evening class.
