Is Muay Thai appropriate for someone who has never done any martial art?

Yes. Many of our best Muay Thai students started with zero experience. Maria builds the curriculum from the basics and progresses each student at their own pace. There is no expectation of prior training.

Will I be expected to spar or fight other students?

No. Sparring is entirely optional and is never introduced until a student has built solid fundamentals and feels personally ready. The focus is on technique development and personal fitness, not competition.

What makes Muay Thai different from the kickboxing class at Xcel?

Muay Thai includes the full range of strikes: fists, feet, elbows, and knees, along with clinch work and the specific rhythm and footwork of Thai boxing. Kickboxing focuses primarily on punches and kicks in a more fitness-oriented format. Both are excellent. Many students train in both.
