Red belt

Below is what you need to know for your belt test.  Each student is required a minimum of 100 classes before testing for black belt. Plus assistant teaching time and conditioning.


Basic Motion (White stripe)

Review all hand techniques: punch, knife hand, ridge hand, spear hand, hammer fist, back fist, palm strikeReview all kicks: front, round, side, back, wheel, hook, jump and pop up kicksReview all blocks: in, out, up, down

Poomse (Blue stripe)
Bassai
Weapons (Purple stripe) – Bo form 2

 

Self defense (gun defense) (Green stripe)

1. at stomach: Jump back grab wrist and gun in hands with thumb blocking hammer. Turn hands counterclockwise while stepping under own arms making attacker’s arms bend. Press backwards on attacker and come down on one knee, forcing attacker to fall backwards, once down, lock arm down with leg and punch to rib, keyop

2. at head: Push gun away from head with right and turn attacker’s forearm up, wrap left arm around attacker's arm and press upward at elbow. Lean back to cause attacker to come up and off balance, then push backwards making attacker fall by sweeping leg, lock arm with leg then punch, keyop

3. at back: step back with right foot, sweeping right arm behind so the gun is pointed away, grab with left hand, bend attacker’s arm back and hit hard with right, knocking gun out of hand. Wrist lock and take down, follow thru locking arm and punching, keyop

Kicking combinations (Red stripe)
1.  Slide side kick, back kick, rear leg round kick, back kick, pop up side kick, double punch, keyop, repeat
2.  Left slide round kick, right fake front round kick, right slide round one low one high, left round kick, right back kick, double punch, keyop, repeat

Required Break
(Brown Stripe) – Jump back kick

Falling Technique (Gray Stripe) - standing front roll

Sparring (Orange Stripe)

Ring management: cutting, checking, doubles, cover punch.
